Happy Monday y’all! For today’s post, I’m going to share with you all the benefits of a mineral bath as well as a how-to, to introduce weekly rejuvenation into your life!

What is a mineral bath?

The average adult’s body contains 60% water. Mineral baths (typically found in the form of bath minerals or lyophilized sea water) contain trace minerals found in the sea such as calcium, magnesium and sodium. Bathing in these helps to re-mineralize the body as well as the skin! Epsom Salts, containing magnesium sulfate are also very popular.

How-to take a mineral bath:

Draw a tepid bath (around 98 degrees). It is very important that the water isn’t too hot- you want your skin to be able to absorb the minerals. If the water is too hot they will dissolve before they can saturate the bath water.

Relax and bathe for about 20 minutes, twice per week. You will feel your muscles relax as well as a wonderful feeling of well-being.

Whenever I am feeling out of balance- stressed, over-tired, or if I feel as though I might be getting sick, I make sure I don’t skip this part of my self-care routine. It makes a huge difference.

The magnetic energy of the heart

The heart has an electromagnetic field around it. (My husband, training to be a Cardiologist, rolls his eyes. It hasn’t been studied in Western Medicine- it’s fine.) In Energy Medicine, which I practice, the EMF surrounding the heart can extend several feet around us. This field changes with our emotional/vibrational state and can also absorb others’ energies. For my sensitive souls, a sea salt bath is a cure all from the empathetic load. Soak your heart under the water for a few minutes to create a vibrational shift and wash away the cosmic dirt.

Can you add essential oils?

I’m so glad you asked. Yes! Here are some of my favorite blends (for all blends you can drop them directly into the water or mix them into your bath salts before adding the salts to the water):

Insomnia Blend:

5 drops of lavender essential oil

5 drops Roman Chammomile

PMS Blend:

5 drops Neroli

5 drops Jasmine

5 drops Rose Absolute

Cold and Flu Blend:

5 drops Eucalyptus

5 drops Rosemary

*nb. I do not recommend peppermint, as it has a very strong cooling affect on the skin and can either burn or make you feel like you are about to go numb! Use it for inhalation/diffuser only.

Mens’ Health Blend:

5 drops Juniper

5 drops Rosemary

5 drops Lemon
