Happy Thursday!!! I want to thank everyone for being so patient for the less frequent blog posts while I get my life up and running here in North Carolina! Expect the consistent 3 times per week posts from me very soon!!
So, the question is… do I need to wear a sunscreen every day?
The answer is, Yes!
No matter where you live, no matter what your Fitzpatrick skin type, it is imperative that you protect your skin each day. Whether it is sunny out or rainy, and even if you are just walking to your car and not out for very long.
90% of aging is from photo aging, meaning aging caused by the sun. That means that you can prevent 90% of how quickly you age! UVA and UVB rays can penetrate glass, which is why SPF is imperative even if you are only driving around that day! Not only that, you are protecting your skin from skin cancers such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma, which can be fatal if not detected early enough.
Choose an SPF of at least 30.
I know in the past I have mentioned the importance of choosing a mineral sunscreen over a chemical. Currently though, chemical sunscreens are proving more effective in protecting the skin from the sun in clinical trials. Try a combination physical sunblock (mineral) and chemical, such as Revision Skincare’s Intellishade.
