Happy Thursday loves!!! Memorial Day weekend is almost here! I hope everyone has super fun plans and I hope sunscreen is a part of those plans!

Today I would like to share with you all about expiration dates!

First thing’s first… on most products there is a little icon that tells you when the product will expire after it is opened.

I recommend writing the date in black magic marker on the product as soon as you open it.

The dangers and downsides of expired product

Some cosmetics such as mascara can breed bacteria after they have expired. In skincare, most are rendered ineffective after a certain amount of time (such as Vitamin C serums!). Here is a guideline for the most common beauty products and when they expire.

Mascara: 6 months

Eyeliner: Gel- 6months; Pencil, 1 year

Foundation: 6 months-1 year

Lipstick: 2 years

Retinols: 9-11 months

Peels: 3 months, or refer to packaging for that icon!
