Ask Ashli: Beauty Seeks Organic Skin Care

Hi Skincare Belle!

I am going to Whole Foods today to try to find some affordable anti aging products. Any recommendations? And rose hip I hear is good in the morning? (I am totally new to this) But after living on the equator and getting some bad burns and my sister had melanoma, and I spent the first 18 years of my life farming with no SPF, I am fighting to heal my skin and dark spots. Thank you SO much for your help! XOXO

Sincerely,

Beautiful Seeks Organic Anti-Aging

Hi Beautiful!

As far as anti-aging, one of the best anti-aging steps you can take is to make sure you are wearing an effective mineral sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30, separate from your moisturizer. At Whole Foods, I like Mychelle Dermaceuticals SunShield SPF28 Unscented. The line’s Polypeptide Cream is a great anti-aging moisturizer you can use day and night. It’s important to have your sunscreen separate from your moisturizer- the molecules for SPF are very large and therefore the skin absorbs the SPF molecule and not the smaller humectant molecule found in the moisturizer.

I like Heritage Rosewater as a toner and this you can use to cleanse your face with in the am.
Dr. Haushka makes some great products too! I like the Regenerating Eye Cream!
For dark spots, a Vitamin C serum will help a lot! It will also help to protect your skin from UVA/UVB rays as well as Free Radicals. The gold standard is CE Ferulic by SkinCeuticals, but if you are shopping at Whole Foods then Mychelle Perfect C Serum is a good option. Use in the AM only under moisturizer 🙂

Happy hunting!!!

Love,

Ashli
